Alec Giacoletto
Guide
A native to the Northern Rocky Mountains and to Yellowstone country, Alec grew up between Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming, and his passion for fishing and hunting arrived about the time he learned to walk. Post-high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army infantry, deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2013 with the 1-87 Infantry, 10th Mountain Division, and was stationed in upstate New York until his end-time-in-service June 2016.
Partially for the fly fishing opportunities, he attended Montana State University (class of ‘21) in Bozeman, Montana, and began fly shop and guiding work that continued over the next eight summers. With a passion for writing, he turned it toward his love of fly fishing and the outdoors and, in 2022, a career as an English teacher. In 2024, he joined the Fishing for the Fight guide crew and has loved every second of it.
Today, he lives in Cody, Wyoming, where he publishes his outdoor writing while teaching high school English and journalism, and pursues birds with his shotgun, mule deer in the mountains, and trout with a fly rod on his off time.
